Khan Boeng Keng Kang
Luxury residential area with many foreigners
The most popular area in Phnom Penh is Khan Boeng Keng Kang, which located at the central of the city. It extends to the lower left from the Independence Monument at the intersection of Sihanouk blvd and Norodom blvd, and is the area where the Olympic Market, Toul Sleng Museum, Moha Montrei Pagoda, etc. are located. Locally called BKK, it is the area in Cambodia, that is the first to be noticed in real estate investment industry. In particular, BKK1 is a branded area with land prices about twice as high as BKK2 and BKK3. BKK1 has many luxury condominiums, and BKK2 and BKK3 have large residential areas and many single-family homes. BKK1 is called the mbassy Special Zone, and the surrounding areas are dotted with embassies from various countries, including the Japanese embassy. Many foreigners and wealthy Cambodians live there, and it has long been the home of many foreign-affiliated companies, NGOs, and tourist companies. There are many shops such as fashionable cafes, fine restaurants from various countries style, international schools, hotels and bars, and Japanese clinics. Khan Boeng Keng Kang is composed of 6 districts including Bong Keng Kang 1 to 3, and has become an independent ward from Khan Chamkar Mon, due to population growth. According to the 2019 Cambodia Census, Boeng Keng Kang has a total population of 66,658 and land size of 4.1km2.
