A border town where eco-tourism resort is continuing to develop
Koh Kong is a seaside town on the Thai border facing the Gulf of Thailand next to
Sihanoukville, about four hours and a half drive from Phnom Penh. Since the opening of the Koh Kong Bridge in 2002, access from the border has become easier and the number of Western tourists is increasing. The city is divided into Thai border casino area and a central area, with hotels and bungalow restaurants on the riverside. Untouched Mother Nature such as vast mangrove forest, the remote islands spread around Koh Kong and there also a safari park, and in recent years it has become a very popular area for Cambodians such as resort and eco-tourism development including floating tent type cottages is also in progress. Dara Sakor International Airport, which is under construction in Koh Kong Province, will be completed soon. The opening day is expected to be in early 2022.
