Japan’s passport is the world’s top passport that allows you to travel to various countries without a visa, but Cambodia always requires a visa. Cambodia has an entry visa (green) and a stay visa (blue). First of all, everyone enter the country will bring entry visa (green). This is easy to get and can stay for 30 days. If you stay for 30 days or more, you will apply for a stay visa (blue) after entering Cambodia.
Entry visa (green)
There are tourist visa (T) and business visa (E) for entry visa (green), and everyone who stay for purposes other than tourism chooses business visa (E). Business visa (E) are not only for work, but also for tour conductors, company inspections, seminar participation, study abroad, volunteer activities, and long-term stays. You can get it at the Cambodian embassy in Japan or on the Internet before departure, or at the airport after arrived in Cambodia.
All types of entry visa (green) documents are required, only passport and photo. The application form can be obtained at each acquisition location.
Please check your passport and photo before applying as they have the following conditions. The remaining period of the passport is calculated retroactively from the “date of entry into Cambodia” and is the period of the entry visa (green) obtained + 6 months.
How to get an entry visa (green)
You can get an entry visa (green) in 4 ways
1. Apply at the counter of the Cambodian Embassy / Consulate in Japan before departure
There are the following 6 Cambodian embassies and consulates in Japan. You can apply for a visa by visiting this counter. It is easy to access and recommended for those who want to obtain it in Japan in advance. However, there are disadvantages such as limited reception hours at the counter, issuance after the day after application, and higher fees than arrival visas. Payment is in Japanese Yen and cash only.
The application can be made by the person himself / herself, as well as by a family member or an agent, but in the case of an agent application, the person’s signature is required on the application form. The application form is available at the counter, but it will be smooth if you download it from each website in advance, fill in the necessary items, and bring it with you. Visa fees, number of days required for issuance, business / application hours, entry forms, etc. also vary from embassy to consulate.

2. Apply by mail at the Embassy of Cambodia in Japan before departure
Even if you want to get a visa in advance in Japan but it is difficult to visit, the embassy accepts visa applications by mail from all over Japan. We will send you the original passport and photo, the visa application form you downloaded and filled out, and the memo with the return address by registered mail. At this time, mailing is a service only for the embassy, so be sure to use the embassy application form for the download form.
However, there are disadvantages such as it takes about one week to acquire, the application cannot be canceled, and the fee is higher than the counter.

3. Apply at the airport after arriving in Cambodia ※Currently stopped due to Covid-19
It is called an arrival visa, and it is the cheapest and most popular way to get it, and you can apply for it at Phnom Penh Airport and Siem Reap Airport. However, it is possible that you will line up at the counter, so it is recommended that you complete the application form as soon as you get off the plane.
The application form may be distributed on the plane. Fill out the application form, line up at the application counter, submit the application form, passport and photo, and pay the issuance fee to complete. You do not need to prepare glue, etc., as you only have to submit the photo together with the application form without pasting it. If you don’t have a photo, you can pay an additional $2 to scan your passport photo and use it.
If there are any deficiencies or troubles in your application, we will respond in English because you cannot speak Japanese. Payment is in US dollars and cash only. You will also be given a receipt when you return your passport. This receipt will be submitted at the time of immigration after this, so please do not lose it.
4. Get in advance on the internet ※Currently stopped due to Covid-19
It is called E-Visa and is a tourist visa (T) issued directly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia. You cannot get a business visa (E). Applications can only be made on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. In case of problems, you must contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia directly, not the embassy or consulate. In that case, please contact us by email in English.
Prepare the photo of the passport face photo page (format is jpeg, jpg, png, pdf) and the applicant’s face photo (format is jpeg, jpg, png and within 2MB) and apply on the web. Payment can only be made with a credit card such as VISA or Master.
At the earliest, about 10 minutes after application, the PDF file “e-visa” will be attached to the registered e-mail address. You will need the e-visa when you enter and leave the country, so print out two A4 size sheets. This form will be the actual visa used for immigration, so cut out only the VISA part and submit it with your passport at the time of immigration.

How to choose an entry visa (green)
Please refer to the following when choosing the type of entry visa (green). The period and number of times they can be extended after 30 days are different. Tourist visas (T) can only be extended once for one month. On the other hand, a business visa (E) can be extended up to one year many times. You cannot change your Tourist Visa (T) ⇄ Business Visa (E) after enter to Cambodia.
Stay visa (blue)
If you are staying in Cambodia for 30 days or more, you can apply for a stay visa (blue), but you can only apply if your entry visa (green) is a business visa (E). In addition, the types of stay visas (blue) that can be applied for are different depending on whether they are single or multiple. You can apply for a stay visa (blue) 30 days before the expiration date of your entry visa (green), and it will take about 10 to 14 days to obtain it. You can avoid overstay by applying and arriving at the Immigration Bureau before your passport expires (green).
You can apply for a stay visa (blue) as shown on the right for a business visa (E).Your passport will have a blue visa on the next page of your green visa. If you obtain a stay visa (blue) in multiples, you will be able to enter and leave the country many times without the need for an entry visa (green).
There are four types of stay visas (blue): business (EB), job seekers (EG), retirement (ER), and student (ES). You can stay for a long time by applying for a stay visa (blue) every year. Since the required documents, the length of stay, and whether or not you can apply for an extension after that are different for each type, it is common to use a visa application agency to apply.
