Kandal extends around the capital city of Phnom Penh, and is a province that is drawing
attention with the plan of the new Phnom Penh International Airport in 2023. It is a
commuter town area like Chiba, Saitama and Kanagawa in Japan. 60% of the residents
commute to Phnom Penh. There are many factories with large foreign capital, and many
people from rural areas come to work. The new port river port of Phnom Penh was
completed in 2013, and Cambodia’s first agricultural inspection station was opened in
2019. In 2020, a project that will catch future gaze has started, such as the start of the
development of a large 6ha land of small and medium size enterprise cluster.
