On October 18, 2021, new entry conditions for Cambodia were announced!

Until now, all people entering Cambodia have always had to be quarantined in a hotel for 14 days at their own expense. This time, a gradual quarantine period was established, from 14 days to a minimum of 0 days, resulting in a conditional shortening of the actual quarantine period. The required documents are the same as the old conditions, but with an addition. The points that have been shortened are vaccination and the presence of a letter of invitation.

The difference between 14 days and 7 days of isolation is vaccination.

■Eligible participant(s)

All Khmer and foreign nationals entering Cambodia.

■Essential item

Covid-19 vaccination card or certificate showing the required number of vaccinations.
*Vaccine name (type), date of vaccination, etc. must be indicated.

■After entering Cambodia

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be required to take a Rapid Test. If the test is positive, you must be treated in an isolation treatment facility as instructed by the Ministry of Health. If you test negative, you will be placed in quarantine at an isolation hotel for 7 days.

A second test, the PCR test, will be conducted on the sixth day in the isolation hotel. If the test is positive, the patient must be treated in an isolation treatment facility as instructed by the Ministry of Health. If the test is negative, the quarantine will be terminated in 7 days.

【Required Documents】

If you do not have a certificate of vaccination, the conditions will remain the same. Also, if the quarantine is for 7 days, the deposit will be halved to $1000.

■Important Notes

• Entry visas must be issued by the same Cambodian Embassy or Consulate as the old conditions. Arrival visas continue to be suspended.
• The negative certificate 72 hours before departure has the same regulations as the old conditions.
• Advance reservation for the isolation hotel is optional. If you make a reservation, you will pay the hotel in advance, so no deposit will be required. If you do not make a reservation, the hotel will be designated by the Cambodian government.
• If you are staying at a government designated hotel, a deposit of $2000 or $1000 will be required at the airport when you enter Cambodia. You will need to have this ready before your departure.
• If you are entering Cambodia as an employee of a domestic company, you will need an additional work permit. If it has expired or has not been obtained, you need to apply to the Ministry of Labor.

Shortened from 7 days to 3 days by invitation.

■Eligible participant(s)

Vaccinated and have a Certificate on Invitation or a Certificate on Guarantee, investors, business, professionals, etc.

■Essential item

• Covid-19 vaccination card or certificate showing the required number of vaccinations.
• A Certificate on Invitation or a Certificate on Guarantee issued by a company registered and filing tax returns in Cambodia.

■What is a Certificate on Invitation?

This is a document by a Cambodian legal entity on the premise that the entrant will bear all costs of hospitalization, isolation, and treatment in Cambodia in the event that he/she is found to be infected with Covid-19 after entering the country. All corona-related expenses will be borne by the entrant.

Therefore, a deposit of $600/person is required as proof that the entrant can bear the cost. However, at the five hotels affiliated with the Cambodian Ministry of Health, reservations can be made in advance, and if a reservation is made, the cost will be paid in advance to the hotel and no deposit will be required.

■What is a Certificate on Guarantee?

This document indicates that the applicant applying for the Certificate on Guarantee is the guarantor of the entrant. It is a guarantee that the guarantor will cover all expenses for hospitalization, isolation and treatment in Cambodia for the entrant in the event that the entrant is found to be infected with Covid-19 after entering the country.

■Items required to be included in the Certificate

１）Information about the inviting party or guarantor:
Name, date of birth, contact phone number, passport or ID card, etc.

２）Information about the entrant:
Name, date of birth, relationship to the inviting party or guarantor, contact telephone number, passport, length of stay in Cambodia and purpose of entry, etc.

■Issuing method

The inviting party or guarantor applies to the Cambodian government agency. The applicant will receive a reply within 3 working days. If the application is approved, a certificate will be issued, if not, the applicant will have to reapply.

■After entering Cambodia

Take the PCR test upon arrival at the airport. You will be transferred to a quarantine hotel to wait for the results. If the PCR test is negative, the quarantine will end in three days; if the PCR test is positive, you will be quarantined further as instructed by the Ministry of Health at that time.

【Required Documents】

All documents must be present at the time of entry into Cambodia. The QR code on your certificate will be read.

■Important Notes

• If you have a Certificate on Invitation and have not made an advance reservation at an isolated hotel, you will be required to pay a $600 deposit at the airport when you enter Cambodia, which must be prepared before you leave the country.
• The Certificate on Invitation and Certificate on Guarantee are valid for 30 days and can be used only once.

Bookable Isolation Hotels

The following five hotels can be booked in advance and do not require a deposit to be paid. All of these hotels are located in Phnom Penh.

Please complete your hotel reservation at least two days prior to your entry into Cambodia. All hotel accommodation costs are to be borne by the entrant, and transportation from the airport to the hotel is to be provided by the hotel. The cost of hotel accommodation includes the PCR test fee. Meals and other services provided may vary from hotel to hotel, so please contact the hotel to confirm.

If you make a hotel reservation, the deposit will be waived at the airport in Cambodia. However, if you test positive for Covid-19 at the airport, you will not be allowed to stay at the quarantine hotel you have pre-booked and will be placed in a quarantine facility designated by the Cambodian government. In this case, a deposit of $2,000 will be required, so even if you have made a reservation in advance, we recommend that you prepare the deposit money before you travel.
